The Farm

Howdy Parents!! I hope your week has been great! We have been very busy in kindergarten. We are learning so much and having so much fun!

This week we are reviewing all of the letters learned thus far, these letters are: Aa, Cc, Dd, Ff, Gg, Mm, Nn, Pp, Rr, Ss, & Tt. We will not be learning a new letter this week due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Please reinforce these letters at home. We are building a strong base for reading!

We began blending and making words this week and I am so proud of all the students! We learned how to put together words like t-ap tap and then make words by changing the beginning sounds: tap, cap, map, etc. We also continue to practice our writing. Right now it is very important to build confidence as writers. Write with your child at home! "Good writers are good readers and good readers are good writers!"

In math we are working with using a graph and recognizing the numbers 0-20. We have fun number poems for all those numbers...ask your child to share! We continue each day with our calendar and counting and have had so much fun with our Thanksgiving pie graph and Turkey math!

Thanks to those of you who have sent the FARM permission slips back. We will be going to Schnepps Farm on Friday December 1st---your child will be arriving back to SMES at 2:45pm. Please remember to pack a sack lunch for your child. Also, please note they will be on a different schedule only on this day. If your child rides the bus they will be getting home around 3:15pm, if you usually pick them up be at the school office at 3:00pm. Call me with any other questions or concerns. We can't wait---we are so excited to go to the Farm!!!

Also....progress reports will be sent home Monday! Please check your child's backpacks-these are very important to see all of your child's progress. Your child is so smart!

Please check your child's backpacks everyday for homework, important notes, and most importantly their beautiful work from each day!
